First of all, ten stars for Malala! Ten stars for her health, her stamina, her courage, and her brilliance!But truth be known this was a difficult book to read. I think it needed better editing. I kept getting lost in the timeline. For example, the way I read it, Malala was fourteen when she was shot. I knew that wasn't the case. Also, the first part of the book was so choppy that I almost gave up reading the book. I only continued because I wanted to learn about this fascinating teen.History has never been my favorite subject. It wasn't until a brilliant teacher in college did I begin paying attention. Let's face it, history is about men and their wars. Women are rarely the stars. So when a book about a female who is making history, gets bogged down in the wars, I started losing interest. When the war affects Malala and her family, then I felt involved again. Then I was glad for the bit of a history lesson that was set up in the book. Wish there had been a smoother way to move from personal story to the region's history.I hope, hope, hope that Malala writes more books. I hope she finds friends. I hope her mother can get on with her own education and can stand and give a few speeches of her own. I hope the family becomes more feminist so that mother can have her own life. I wish the family all the goodness life can give.

My 11-year old son read this and was so touched and inspired by Malala's story. He normally only likes to read sci-fi, so I was shocked when he came back to me after reading the book with tears in his eyes, saying how grateful and inspired this book was for him. Nothing has ever moved him the way this story did. I highly recommend this story to any Tweens and teens. It is sure to inspire empathy and understanding.

Truly.I introduced my 5 year old son to the story of Malala last year, we own a couple picture books about her. I wanted him to know how important it is for all people to be given the opportunity to be educated. Also, I want to raise him to understand that there is no type of person better than another - people of all races, religions, genders, etc. all deserve the same opportunities.To me, the worst part of this was knowing there was a period of time when her father regretted letting her choose an education over her safety. I cannot even imagine the grief her parents went through.I've been reading a lot of non fiction lately, and I've noticed there is a lot of rambling in them. This book didn't have that. It is a fascinating story and I am so glad she lived through being shot. I wish I could afford to go to her talk in Houston, I expect it is going to be great.

Malala didn’t give up her passion for education and even risked her life to be educated. Malala values education and school not only for herself but all the girls and boys. When the Taliban bombed schools and forced girls to stay home instead of going to schools, Malala tried everything in her power (interviews, diary, documentary) to be able to attend classes again. Even when shot in the head, she didn’t give in. She turned a local issue into a worldwide discussion.Another theme is gender roles in Pakistan. I bought Hacking Exposed 6 when it came out in 2009. I was surprised to find Hacking Exposed 7 (the most recent version) was written in 2012, 6 years ago. It is my fault for not looking closely at the available information. Looking through the section titles listed in the At A Glance section, most of the original parts are present in the new book and have almost identical page numbering up until part 6 Cyber crime and Advanced Persistent Threats, there the page numbering diverge. It appears as though chapter 7 Network Devices, present in version 6 is gone in version 7, however if your examine the contents pages you will see the same material is present in both books but rearranged into different chapters. The one seemingly original chapter in version 7 is Mobile Hacking. In the years between version 7 published in 2012 and the end of 2018 hacking has changed greatly but, with the exception of sections on Cybercrimes and Mobile Hacking, the most recent version of Hacking Exposed seems to be a rehash of information already present in the nine year old Hacking Exposed 6.

Nice book, but old techniques. Still a good read for anyone starting out.

I recall the first time I read a Hacking Exposed book. Learned some new things. By the time this tome rolled out I had read portions of it in prior editions and there wasn't that much new material. This was a few years ago and now we're happily running Win 10. So many of the basics are still the same though. Still a decent read.

I'm in vulnerability assessment and pen testing field started last year. I seldom buy computer books these day but this is one of the exceptions.Company paid $5000 for my SANS 560 course but not willing to spend the money to buy this book so I got it for myself.I'm still reading it and all I can said is, go get yours.

Read it carefully, do not miss a step. This title presents clearly what hackers do and vulnerabilities of your own system. Great examples of tools used by hackers. After reading the book I got armed with tons of information against hacking. Vigilance is not a option. Strongly recommended....

Excellent Book. Worth the money.

Overall a good book. It has been updated many times over many years so some of the info is very dated. For example, there is a chapter on hacking modems. Our company has zero modems but I suppose some companies still have them. I just skimmed over that. Also, some of the threats discussed have long been patched by everybody and effectively eradicated. There may be some educational foundation for discussing but the book is long already so I would prefer they be removed. I liked the newer chapter on cell phone hacking and jail breaking.

In this new addition to the fast-fix diet book shelf, Enig and Fallon attempt to correct what they see as Americans' false belief that tropical fats and oils (such as coconut and palm) are unhealthy, asserting that those fats (and coconut, especially) are beneficial saturated fats that should be more heavily incorporated into our diets. Enig, a biochemist and nutritionist, along with Fallon, president of the Weston A. Price Foundation (a non-profit dedicated to helping people implement healthy approaches to nutrition), say "high-fat, low-carb really works," eschewing the disastrous effects a high-fat diet can have on a person's heart. They like the Atkins diet, but say it doesn't take advantage of the "metabolism-boosting" powers of coconut oil. Their approach skews more toward traditional diets and away from modern diets (e.g., chose animal fats over vegetable oils; raw or fermented dairy products instead of pasteurized ones). Though based on considerable research, the book is somewhat off-putting. Its emphasis on one ingredient-in the recipe section, for example, one sample menu has readers eating a dish with coconut in it seven times in one day-seems nutritionally suspicious.

About the Author

Dr. Kalipatnapu N. Rao passed away shortly after the completion of this book. He was an internationally recognized expert in the field of clinical chemistry and pathology. Dr. Rao obtained his Ph.D. in chemistry in 1965 from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India. He retired from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in 2004 after 35 years of research and teaching. He was then employed as an expert witness in toxicology, testifying in several courts throughout the country. His expertise and broad recognition in the field of toxicology has helped both prosecution and defense lawyers.
